 International Exhibit Judging Seminars At NAPEX 2009
Seminars on international exhibit judging will be offered at NAPEX 2009, the World Series of Philately show scheduled for the Washington, D.C.-area in early June.
NAPEX, which will be held June 5-7 at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner in McLean , Va. , will be the only North American show this year to offer these international seminars, and will also offer the new national judging seminars recommended by the American Philatelic Society. Attendance at these seminars will satisfy one of the requirements to begin judging apprenticeships at the international or national level.
The internationally- accredited judges conducting the seminars include Dr. Peter P. McCann, Patricia Stilwell Walker, American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors president Tim Bartsche, Robert Odenweller, Francis Kiddle, Elizabeth Hisey and NAPEX 2009 show chairman Darrell Ertzberger.
NAPEX will feature approximately 250 frames of competitive exhibits, Alphabet Challenge Exhibits (featuring the letter "L"), literature exhibits, 70 dealers, annual meetings of three national stamp societies, the "Important New Collectors" youth area, a cachetmakers bourse, and the first day of issue of the new 44-cent flag booklet stamp.
Here is the tentative schedule of the international judging seminars:
Saturday, June 6:
10:00 a.m. - International Judging Seminar - Postal History Class; Peter McCann, Patricia S Walker
11:30 a.m. - National Judging Seminar: Fundamentals I (Treatment and Importance) Tim Bartshe
1:00 p.m. - National Judging Seminar: Fundamentals II (Research, Condition and Rarity) Patricia S Walker.
2:30 p.m. - Judging Thematic Exhibits in National Shows and Exhibiting in International Shows. Darrell Ertzberger
Sunday, June 7:
10:00 a.m. - National Judging Seminar: Picture Post Card Class, Tim Bartshe.
11:00 a.m. International Judging Seminar: Traditional Class , Bob Odenweller
12:00 p.m. - National Judging Seminar: One Frame Class - Patricia S Walker
1:00 p.m. - International Judging Seminar: Revenue Class, Francis Kiddle
1:00 p.m. - National Judging Seminar: Display Class, Elizabeth Hisey.

Seminar on Exhibiting & Judging
6-8 November 2009 in London
The Association of British Philatelic Societies (ABPS) and FIP have arranged a Seminar on Exhibiting & Judging for the Aerophilately, Postal Stationery, Traditional and Revenue Classes to be held in central London on 6, 7 and 8 November 2009
The Revenue presenters will be Francis Kiddle and Chris Harman.
`Participants will be registered on the FIP database as having fulfilled the requirement for application to become an FIP Apprentice Juror by having participated in an FIP sanctioned seminar in the Exhibition Classes of these Seminars.’
